The youth of Gamlingay learn new skills in bike maintenance

A very successful course for young people was run in Gamlingay to teach them how to maintain and keep their bikes and safe. The 6 week course culminated in each individual receiving a nationally accredited qualification. The course was delivered by Outspoken Training with support from MAYD and South Cambs District Council with many bikes being donated by the local community. Well done everyone involved. :)

The benefits of the course for the young people were:-

  • Learning new skills (technical, communication and teamwork)
  • Save them money as each received a valuable goodie bag of cycling equipment and learnt skills to fix their own bicycles instead of paying others
  • Potential to earn money by offering their skills to others in the community
  • Keep them safer by ensuring that their bicycles are safe to be on the road
